Your land is shifting. Your slope is eroding Fix it right — once.
We design and build custom retaining walls for Rhode Island homeowners dealing with erosion, unstable slopes, and land that doesn’t work for them. Natural stone, concrete block, and boulder walls — engineered to hold for decades, built to look like they belong.
Who We Build For
Three Situations That Bring Homeowners to Us
If any of these sound familiar, you’re in the right place.
Watching Their Land Disappear
You bought the house 1–3 years ago. The inside is starting to look right. Now every time you look out at the backyard, you feel the gap. You know what you want — you just need someone to execute it without drama.
Wants to Use the Full Yard
You have a sloped yard that’s basically unusable. You want a flat terrace — a space to actually live in. A retaining wall turns a problem slope into the best part of your property.
Old Wall Is Failing
The wall is leaning, bowing, or cracking. Maybe it’s a DIY job from 20 years ago. Maybe it was done wrong from the start. Either way, it needs to come down and be rebuilt — before it becomes a real problem.
- Why It Can't Wait
A Failing or Missing Retaining Wall Gets More Expensive Every Season
We use premium materials and time-tested techniques so your patio, wall, or walkway stays beautiful for decades — not just seasons.
-
1
Erosion Compounds Every Winter
What starts as a few inches of soil loss becomes foundation exposure and structural risk. Every Rhode Island freeze-thaw cycle makes it worse.
-
2
A Failing Wall Is a Liability
If a leaning or cracked wall fails onto a neighbor's property or a vehicle, you're responsible. Homeowners insurance often doesn't cover neglected structural failures.
-
3
Waiting Makes It Cost More
Why does a retaining wall cost more every year you wait? The more soil shifts, the more excavation and material it takes to fix it. A wall that costs $12,000 today can easily become a $25,000+ project if you wait two more seasons.

4
A Good Wall Adds Real Value
A well-built natural stone wall adds usable land and visual appeal buyers respond to. It turns a problem slope into an asset — reflected in your home's value at sale.

FAQ
Questions We Hear Before Every Retaining Wall Project
How much does a retaining wall cost in Rhode Island?
Most residential projects run $4,000–$20,000+ depending on height, length, material, and site conditions. Concrete block starts around $25–40/sq ft of wall face; natural stone runs $35–60/sq ft; boulder walls start at $40+. The most accurate number comes from a free on-site assessment — site conditions matter more for walls than for any other hardscape project.
Do I need a permit for a retaining wall in Rhode Island?
In most RI towns, walls under 4 feet don’t require a permit. Walls over 4 feet typically do — and we’ll handle that with you. If your property is near a wetland buffer (common in South County), additional setback requirements may apply. We identify all of this during your free assessment.
How long does installation take?
Most residential walls take 2–5 days depending on length, height, and site access. Larger projects or boulder walls requiring equipment may take a week or more. We give you a specific timeline at your assessment and stick to it.
Why did my old wall fail?
The most common cause is lack of proper drainage. When water can’t escape from behind a wall, hydrostatic pressure builds up and pushes it outward. The second is insufficient footing depth — walls that don’t extend below the frost line heave every winter until they fail. We build every wall with both addressed from day one.
Should I book now for spring?
Yes — and especially for retaining walls, which require more site prep and sometimes permits. Spring books 4–6 weeks out by March. If your situation involves active erosion or a leaning wall, getting your assessment now means we can prioritize your project once conditions allow.
What if my situation is more complex than a standard wall?
Steep grades, unstable soils, proximity to structures, and wetland buffers all add complexity — and we’ve worked with all of them. We assess the full picture during your free site visit and give you an honest recommendation, even if that means tiered walls, specific drainage systems, or a different approach than you’d considered.
