Water goes somewhere. Right now, is it going where you want it — or toward your foundation?
We grade and level land for Rhode Island homeowners dealing with poor drainage, standing water, uneven yards, and slopes that don’t work. Proper grading protects your foundation, eliminates erosion, and makes your property actually usable.
Who We Build For
This Page Is Written for Three Types of Homeowners
If you recognize yourself in any of these, you’re exactly who we work with.
Standing Water After Every Rain
There’s a corner of the yard that never dries out. You’ve watched it get worse every spring. Mosquitoes, soggy ground, dead grass. You know something has to change.
Inherited a Yard That Doesn't Work
Uneven, lumpy, or sloping the wrong way. You want to sod, seed, or install hardscape — but the land has to be right first. Grading is the foundation everything else is built on.
Water Running Toward the Foundation
Water is pooling near the house. The ground slopes toward the foundation instead of away. This isn’t just a yard problem — it’s a structural risk. Every season you wait costs more.
What We Do
Grading & Leveling Services We Provide
Every grading project starts with understanding how water moves across your property — and then reshaping the land so it moves the way you need it to.
- Most Common Service
Yard Grading & Drainage Correction
We reshape your yard’s grade so water flows away from structures, problem areas, and low spots. The most common fix for standing water and soggy lawns in Rhode Island.
- Pre-Lawn / Pre-Project
Lawn Leveling
Filling and smoothing uneven, lumpy, or rutted lawn areas. Essential before sodding, seeding, or any hardscape installation. Creates the flat, consistent surface your lawn or project needs.
- Structural Protection
Foundation Grading
We re-establish positive grade away from your home’s foundation — minimum 6 inches of drop over the first 10 feet. Prevents water intrusion, basement moisture, and long-term structural damage.
A sod can make a change.

FAQ
Questions We Hear Before Every Grading Project
How much does grading cost in Rhode Island?
Small projects (up to 1,500 sq ft) typically run $800–$2,500. Medium (1,500–5,000 sq ft) run $2,000–$6,500. Large (5,000+ sq ft) start at $5,500 and up. The final number depends on the grade change needed, soil conditions, fill requirements, and drainage complexity. Your exact price comes from a free on-site assessment — price-locked before we start.
How long does grading take?
Small projects take 1 day. Medium projects run 1–3 days. Large or complex projects take 3–7+ days. We give you a specific timeline at your assessment and stick to it.
What's the difference between grading and leveling?
Grading means reshaping the slope of your land to direct water flow — it’s intentional and engineered. Leveling means creating a flat, smooth surface for lawn or a project base. Many jobs require both: grading to solve drainage, then leveling for finish. We’ll tell you exactly what your property needs at your assessment.
Will grading fix my standing water problem?
In most cases, yes — if the standing water is caused by improper grade or a low spot. We identify the cause during your free assessment. If the problem needs additional drainage solutions like a French drain or catch basin, we’ll tell you and include that in the scope if needed.
Do I need grading before installing a patio or walkway?
Often yes — especially if your yard has drainage issues or uneven terrain. Installing hardscape on a poorly graded site leads to drainage running toward the house or under the new installation. We frequently combine grading and hardscape in the same project to make sure everything works together.
Should I book now for spring?
Yes — especially with an active drainage or standing water problem. Spring books 4–6 weeks out by March. Getting your assessment now means we prioritize your project as soon as the ground allows. Grading is best done when the ground is workable but not saturated.
